Ginger Powder

Ginger is the root of a semitropical plant that adds a spicy-sweet flavor and a nippy aroma to recipes. It is widely used in Chinese and Thai cooking particularly for stir-fry dishes as the hot sharp taste of ginger strengthens flavors, cuts the fattiness of meats, and eliminates fishy tastes. Dried ginger powder is also an ingredient in curry powder, pickles and chutneys. Ginger can also be the star flavor in biscuits, cakes, beverages, and desserts (i.e. gingerbread, ginger candies, ginger ale and gingersnaps). Cultivated for more than 3,000 years, ginger has been recorded in ancient medical texts as a warming spice possessing antiseptic properties and beneficial for a healthy digestion and regulating menstrual periods.
