Oatbran is a rich source of soluble dietary fiber (the kind that helps curb bad snacking). Unlike wheat bran, oat bran has a similar nutritional profile to rolled oats so can be cooked and eaten in just the same way. Just add double the quantity of liquid to oat bran and heat gently until thickened. Not only is it quick and easy to cook it is also higher in fibre and nutrients than oatmeal and can help lower cholesterol. Try adding some to bread too, up to around 1/4 cup per loaf, with extra sprinkled on top for a bit of crunch.
