Organic Earl Grey Tea
Description
It is not absolutely clear why Earl Grey is named after Charles Earl, 2nd Earl Grey, British Prime Minister in the 1830s. The first references to this black tea flavored with oil of bergamot, a citrus grown in Italy, was found in 1824. It appears that bergamot was used to enhance the flavor of low-quality teas. Interestingly enough, nowadays, a significant minority of the people in the UK consider drinking Earl Grey “posh” and “upper class.” Earl Grey brings a delightfully unique flavor to chiffon and pound cakes. Alishan's Earl Grey is made from Sri Lankan and Indian tea leaves and Meditteranean citrus bergamot oil.
