Organic Black Mission Figs
Description
The firm outer skin of Organic Black Mission Figs gives way to layer upon layer of delicious creamy seed mass and chewy jelly-like flesh. The Black Mission Fig is native to an archipelago of Spain in the western Mediterranean Sea. Spaniards brought it to America in 1520. The missionary fathers, priests at Mission San Diego, originally planted the Mission Figs in California in 1769. Requiring full sun all day, the figs ripen into palatable fruits that can be blended with savory ingredients to produce a meaty, smoky aroma and taste. Lovely in salads, tarts, and fancy appetizers.
